Siamese kitten
In the photo, you see a 10-day-old Siamese kitten. This Siamese kitten was born to two Oriental breed parents. The father is black and a carrier of the color point gene.
The mother is a black tortoiseshell and also a carrier of the color point gene. Since both parents carry the color point gene, they produce color point kittens, which are Siamese. We do not see distinct markings on this kitten because it is a red point. Point coloration, also known as Siamese, is a type of albinism. It is an acromelanistic coloration, meaning it is temperature-dependent.
In a colder environment, the markings are darker, while in a warmer environment, the markings are lighter. Siamese kittens are born white without markings because they are in a very warm environment in their mother's womb. The markings begin to appear in the first days after birth. The exceptions are red point and cream point Siamese. The appearance of these points takes longer, and in the first weeks of life, such Siamese kittens look white, like the kitten shown in the photo.
